15/08/09 Ordinary members have use of Club facilities, which include lessons every week, right to horse hire with instructor approval, and additional lessons at reduced rates. We currently have 20 school horses/ponies at the Club and 12 boarded horses. Project History and Description There was interest in equestrian sports among members of the ISB and Nichada Thani communities, who formerly were members of the Nichada Polo Club which closed in January 2003. NESC commenced business on 1 May 2004 with the re-establishment of a riding facility in the vicinity of Nichada Thani and fills a need for horse enthusiasts who do not want to spend hours commuting to other equestrian clubs. The Club is a first-class equestrian sports facility, with stalls for private and school horses and ponies to provide riding instruction and other educational programs for students of Harrow's International School, St. Andrew's, children and adults in the community. On July 24, 2003, a 10-year lease was signed for 11.5 rai of land that is located 300 meters from the Srichaitong gate of Nichada Thani. The land was filled and the following facilities were built:
There is no bar, restaurant or accommodations (except for staff housing). However, snacks and drinks are available for club members and food can easily be ordered from various restaurants in the vicinity. Choice of arena and barn was influenced by considerations of quality, speed of assembly, and ease of removal at the end of the lease period. A total investment of over Baht 50 million was made in construction of the facilities, and purchase of initial inventories of tack, school horses/ponies, equipment, etc. The Club hosted the 2004, 2006 and 2008 FEI World Dressage Challenge in November of each year. Management of the Club
Margrit Hoffmann (German national and experienced national equestrian coach and judge) is head instructor and advisor. Several of the former Nichada Polo grooms (Home and Dao) work at the Club.
Carol Suthat na Ayuthya (Swiss, living in Thailand since 1961) is in charge of the day-to-day operation of the Club and the office, the multi-lingual customer service and interacts with Margrit in equestrian concerns. She is assisted by Leenawan Chen who has been working for the Club owners for many years before the opening of the Club. The Club charges all members quarterly membership and other fees comparable to other equestrian clubs in Thailand. Priority is being given to prudent financial management. Ernst & Young is the Club’s auditor. Ordinary membership will be limited to 60 to 84 riders, depending on the number of school horses available. The fee schedule for ordinary members is attached. Regulations governing rights and obligations of all members will soon be available.
